New York City Automobile accidentsNew York City automobile accidents are the leading cause of death for Americans younger than 35 years old. Every year, thousands of people are killed or injured on America's roadways. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that for every person who dies in an automobile accident, 13 sustain injuries serious enough to require hospitalization. Negligence, intentional misconduct, and product liability are common causes of automobile accidents. Negligence on the part of the driver is the primary cause of car accidents. Driving too fast or too slow for conditions, distractions, and ignoring traffic signals or conditions are all negligent acts. Rather than intentionally causing harm, someone who is negligent failed to exercise care and caused an automobile accident. For example, a distracted driver who rear-ends a vehicle at a red light is negligent. Someone who knowingly acted in a way that resulted in the harm of another person is guilty of intentional misconduct. The person both knew the danger of their actions and did not care, or they deliberately intended to harm another person. Driving at a high rate of speed or cutting in and out of traffic are behaviors consistent with intentional misconduct and frequently cause automobile accidents. Product liability is yet another factor in some accident cases. A good example of product liability is automobile tire litigation which results in the company being held responsible for the crashes caused by the defective tires. Although the manufacturer did not intentionally cause harm to anyone, the law found the company ultimately responsible for the automobile accidents.
